Flashes to Host Falcons for Wednesday Night #MACtion

Kent State will bring the first half of the Mid-American Conference schedule to a close on Wednesday night against Bowling Green in a contest scheduled for 7 p.m. inside of the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes (11-8, 4-4 MAC) were outscored by 20 at the charity stripe in a 69-60 setback at Toledo on Saturday. Kent State shot 14-of-30 from the floor to lead by three at halftime, but the offensive flow was disrupted in the second half by the Rockets' frequent trips to the foul line. Nila Blackford led the Flashes with 14 points and nine boards. Katie Shumate went 3-for-4 from behind the three-point line and finished with 15 points. Megan Carter was also in double-figures with 12 points.
Five Golden Flashes are scoring in double-figures for the season. Freshman Nila Blackford is posting team-leading averages of 14.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Redshirt senior Megan Carter (12.8 ppg) has scored in double-digits in 10 of her past 11 contests against Division I opponents. Sophomore Asiah Dingle (12.6 ppg) leads the Flashes in assists (3.5 apg) and steals (1.9 spg). Freshman Katie Shumate (11.8 ppg) has displayed a versatile skill set and ranks in the top-two on the team in rebounding (6.4 rpg), steals (24) and blocked shots (17). Sophomore Lindsey Thall (10.8 ppg) is second in the MAC in blocked shots (1.8 bpg) and fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.378).
Scouting Bowling Green
Bowling Green (8-12, 1-7 MAC) is coming off an 80-59 loss to Miami at home on Saturday. The Falcons are 2-7 in true road games this season with the most recent victory coming at Milwaukee on December 14.
The second-highest scoring team in the Mid-American Conference, BG averages 74.3 points per game and has put at least 79 on the scoreboard 12 times this season. The Falcons rank in the top-25 nationally in field goal percentage (.461), three-point field goal percentage (.380), three-point field goals per game (8.4) and assists per game (17.3).
The trio of center Angela Perry (14.2 ppg), guard Madisen Parker (13.4 ppg) and guard Caterrion Thompson (13.3 ppg) has accounted for 55-percent of BG's points this season. Perry owns a conference-best .603 field goal percentage and has eight 20-point outings. Parker has been one of the top shooters in the country, ranking second in three-point field goal percentage (.479) and sixth in three-point field goals made (70). After scoring in double-figures in each of the Falcons' first 16 games, Thompson has been held to seven or fewer in three of the past four contests.
