Women’s Basketball Matches Program Record with Six Academic All-MAC Recipients

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Kent State had six student-athletes named to the 2020 Women's Basketball Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, the conference office announced on Tuesday (April 7). The Golden Flashes' six honorees ties the program record, which was previously set in 2000 and 2018.
The Academic All-MAC Team honors student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
Sophomore Annie Pavlansky was one of four student-athletes honored who have a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA. Senior Sydney Brinlee and sophomores Asiah Dingle, Mariah Modkins, Lindsey Thall and Hannah Young were also named to the Academic All-MAC Team.
The Golden Flashes have flourished in the classroom under the direction of fourth-year head coach Todd Starkey, having a program-record six student-athletes earn Academic All-MAC honors twice.
