Lawson Earns USTFCCCA All-America Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Kent State redshirt senior TJ Lawson earned All-America honors for the 2020 indoor track and field season, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced earlier this week.
Lawson had qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the heptathlon for the second time during a decorated career as a Golden Flash and was expected to contend for a national title prior to the cancellation of the championships. He owned the No. 4 heptathlon score (5,885) in the country and was named the Mid-American Conference Most Outstanding Field Performer after scoring a conference meet record 5,723 to claim his second MAC heptathlon crown.
A five-time All-American overall, competing for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the decathlon in each of the three previous seasons, Lawson owns Kent State records for both multis events.
