
Flashes Open 2021 Season With UCF Challenge

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State women's golf team is set to tee off the 2021 campaign as the Flashes will compete in the UCF Challenge from Jan. 31- Feb.2. The 54-hole tournament will be played at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Kent State will compete in a 17-team field that features four Top-50 teams, including No. 7 Arkansas, No. 17 Kentucky, No. 24 Mississippi State, and No. 33 Iowa State.
Competing for the Flashes will be Caley McGinty, Chloe Salort, Emily Price, Marissa Kirkwood, and Valentina Albertazzi. A season ago, McGinty was ranked No. 34 in the country, played in the lineup for every event and finished with a 70.86. She led the nation in final round scoring average (68.86) and led the team in Par-5 scoring (4.70). She completed the season with five top 10 finishes. Salort competed in six events and averaged a 72.50 score.
Price and Albertazzi will be competing for the first time as Golden Flashes. Price, a transfer from South Carolina, won the English Women's Amateur, and ranks third among English players and No. 64 in WAGR. Albertazzi, a transfer from Nova Southeastern University, was named the Division II WGCA Freshman of the Year.
