
Flashes in Second After Opening Round in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla.- The Kent State women's golf team stands in second place on day one of the UCF Challenge at the Eagle Creek Golf Club. The Flashes posted a 12-under 276 score in the first round.
Emily Price, who leads the tournament in first place, shot a 65 (-7) in the first round. Price went 17 holes for par or less after she fired eight birdies on the day. She finished her round with three straight birdies.
Caley McGinty carded a 69 (-3) and is tied for sixth. McGinty carded five birdies on the front nine and ended the round with six total. Valentina Albertazzi is tied for 15th after posting a 70 (-2) score. She went 16 holes for par or less with four birdies.
Chloe Salort is tied for 31st and carded a 72 score (E) with the help of three birdies, while Marissa Kirkwood rounded out the Flashes' lineup with a 75 (+3) score.
Kent State's 22 birdies in the opening round rank third in the tournament. The Flashes trail leader Arkansas by three shots.
The Flashes will tee off tomorrow morning at 9:40 a.m. and will be paired with Miami and Arkansas. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
