WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel Women's Golf team started the 2026-27 season tying for 7thplace at the Boilermaker Classic on Tuesday afternoon.
The three-round, two day tournament in West Lafayette, Indiana was hosted by Purdue University. The Boilermakers (4th) were one of five Power-Four teams to finish above the Golden Flashes in the tournament.
Miami (FL) won the tournament by a wide margin, finishing ten strokes under par as a unit. The Hurricanes' Scarlett Schremmer won the individual title with a final score of six under par. The only other team to finish under par was Ole Miss. The Rebels placed second with a score of -5.
A spot behind their rival was Mississippi State, finishing with a +18 team score and four golfers in the individual top 25. Louisville finished in 6th place, just one stroke ahead of Kent State. Meanwhile, the only mid-major above the Golden Flashes was 5th place North Florida.
Kent State tied with Rutgers for 7th place and finished ahead of two Power-Four programs in the tournament (Indiana (T-9th) and Iowa (11th)), as well as Mid-American Conference foe Ball State (14th). Rounding out the 16 teams in the tournament were Abilene Christian and Missouri State, both of which were 28 strokes behind the Golden Flashes.
KSU was led by junior Gracie Larsen. The Melbourne, Australia native placed just inside the top-10 golfers of the tournament with a three-round score of +2. Larsen hovered outside the top-10 individuals until she shot a stroke under par on Tuesday. Larsen made three birdies in the final round and an impressive eagle on a 515-yard hole 10 during Monday's second round.
Isabella Goyette continued the success for the Kent State junior class with a 13th place finish at a +4 clip. Goyette posted a sub-one first round and was consistently in the top-10 throughout the tournament. The Ohioan also birdied 12 times in the three-round event. Goyette's score was listed as an individual as opposed to counting for Kent State.
Veronika Kedronova (T-25th) and Aryn Matthews (T-30th) rounded out the Golden Flashes who finished in the top half of the tournament. Matthews posted a -1 final round to climb the ladder. Meanwhile, Kedronova started out with a +5 in the first round but came back with two solid rounds filled with birdies and one eagle.
