VERO BEACH, Fla. – The Golden Flashes men's golf team will head into the winter break riding high after a season-best second-place finish at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational.
While the whole team looked strong, junior Chris Vandette was in special form, finishing 14 strokes under par to win the invitational outright.
The Flashes finished the weekend with a team score of 836, beating out three top-25 opponents in #10 USF, #24 Northwestern, and #25 Indiana.
Vandette carded a 202 on the weekend and a 67 on the final day, surging ahead of the Kansas duo of Harry Hillier and Callum Bruce in the third round.
Cade Breitenstine wrapped up his tournament tied for sixth with a score of 208 while Josh Gilkison finished tied for 19th at 211.
Kent State will take this momentum into the break but will return to the course on February 14th at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Tournament in Alabama.
