KENT, Ohio – The Kent State lacrosse team was picked to finish in third place by the Mid-American Conference coaches, the conference announced Tuesday.
The Golden Flashes, led by Head Coach Brianne Tierney, are entering their third season and their first season in the Mid-American Conference after residing in the ASUN in the program's first two seasons.
"We are thrilled to be competiing in the MAC and refreshing these traditional rivalries in a new way on the lacrosse field," said Tierney. "I know our athletes will wear the MAC patch on their jerseys proudly and cannot wait to compete for a MAC Championship."
Kent State returns its all-time leading goal scorer, Abby Jones, who was named to the All-ASUN First Team as a freshman after totaling 52 points in her first season. Jones led the Flashes in goals, assists and draw controls in the shortened 2020 season and will be the driving force of Kent State's offense in 2021.
The team returns every single player that recorded a point last season, including Megan Kozar and Madison Rapier, who posted 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Maddy Mead, Anna Woodhams and Delaney Knipp also return to anchor the Flashes' defense.
The Flashes will begin their season on Friday, Feb. 19, as they host Fresno State inside Dix Stadium at 3 p.m.
