Flashes Sink Pirates 12-4

KENT, OHIO- Luke Albright threw six innings of one-run ball and Michael McNamara and Justin Miknis both homered as the Golden Flashes topped Seton Hall 12-4 on Saturday afternoon at Schoonover Stadium.
Albright faced the minimum through four innings with the lone baserunner, a leadoff walk in the fourth, erased on a double play. The righty worked around trouble in the sixth, the only inning where more than one Pirate reached. All told, Albright allowed four hits, one run off a sixth inning solo homer and struck out six.
The offense got Albright help early and often on Saturday. Michael Turner hit a two-out home run that hit off the top of the fence for his second of the year. An inning later Michael McNamara hit a three-run shot to left, his first collegiate homer, to make it 4-0.
In the fourth, Cam Touchette delivered a run-scoring single, one of four hits on the day for the right fielder. A second run scored on a balk to make it 6-0 and end the day for Seton Hall starter Nick Payero. Kent State broke it open in the fifth with Michael McNamara delivering again, this time a single for his fourth run batted in on the day, a double steal brought home an eighth run for Kent State.
After Seton Hall tallied their lone run against Albright, Justin Miknis put an exclamation point on the win. For the second-straight day, Miknis cleared the bases, this time with a drive over the scoreboard in right field for a grand slam, to make it 12-1. Seton Hall would score three in the ninth before Benny Roebuck made his collegiate debut and got the final two outs and secure the victory.
Kent State pounded out 14 hits to go along with their 12 runs on Saturday. Seven different Golden Flashes recorded a hit and four had a multi-hit day. The Golden Flashes improve to 6-4 with the win and Seton Hall drops to 2-7. Max Rippl is scheduled to get the Sunday start, first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
