The Kent State field hockey team (1-1, 1-1 MAC) will make its way to Louisville, Kentucky to face off against Bellarmine University on Friday, Mar. 19 and Saturday Mar. 20 at 1 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
The Flashes opened the 2021 Spring season last weekend on the road at Longwood. Kent State fell in game one 1-0 before rallying back in the second game to secure a 2-1 victory in overtime. Both games were a battle with each team slightly edging the other in shots and shots on goal in the games they won.
SCOUTING BELLARMINE
The Knights finished 2019 with a 10-8 overall record but are off to an 0-4 start this Spring. They lost three of their top five leading point scorers from 2019, most notably Merit Harris who led the team in points (35) and goals scored (15). The Knights do return their second leading point (15) and goal (6) scorer in Amber Hofenk Jerembo and return their leader in defensive saves (7) Alexa Rastigue. Rastigue also tallied ten points and five goals in 2019.
THE SERIES
This will be the first time Kent State and Bellarmine have faced off. Bellarmine agreed with the MAC to join the conference as an affiliate member beginning with the 2021-22 academic year.
