High-Powered WMU Offense Too Much for Flashes Friday Night

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Kent State was unable to slow Western Michigan's prolific attack in a 3-0 (19-25, 14-25, 16-25) loss on Friday to begin the final weekend of the Mid-American Conference volleyball regular season schedule.
The Golden Flashes (12-8) had not allowed a team to post a .300 hitting percentage all season, but the host Broncos were able to hit at a .389 clip. Kent State tallied a season-low 27 digs with senior Kaeleigh Stang registering 15 of them to lead all players in the match.
Freshman Maluhia Ma'a led the offense with nine kills. Juniors Danie Tyson and Lana Strejcek combined for a .478 hitting percentage in the middle. Tyson had seven kills and Strejcek had six kills to go with a team-high three blocks. Redshirt junior Alex Haffner and freshman Amelia Perdue had 15 assists each.
Kent State's defense stepped up after the intermission and held the Bobcats to a .129
The Flashes will close the regular season against Western Michigan at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
