Flashes Hit the Road for Four Game Series at Central Michigan

KENT, OHIO- The Golden Flashes (13-14, 6-6) hit the road for the first of two-straight series away from Schoonover Stadium, traveling to Mount Pleasant to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas (17-10, 9-3).
ABOUT THE GOLDEN FLASHES
Kent State is coming off a high-scoring series against the Toledo Rockets. The Golden Flashes scored 37 runs in the four games, giving them 85 runs scored over their last eight. Kent State leads the Mid-American Conference in batting average (.284 overall, .311 in MAC play) as well as runs scored in conference play (97), despite playing four fewer MAC games than most teams.
TOUCHETTE LEADS THE WAY
Kent State right fielder Cam Touchette was red-hot against Toledo last weekend. Touchette went an impressive 10-14 (.714) in the four games against Rockets' pitching and reaching base 14 times in 18 at-bats. The hot streak raised his average to .356 on the season and .389 in conference, both are good for sixth in the MAC.
STEADY AS THEY COME
Center fielder Collin Mathews is enjoying a phenomenal season. He is hitting .398 overall and .475 in MAC play, both lead the conference. In his last five games, Mathews is 12-for-20 (.600) and his 35 hits are second overall.
THE FUTURE IS ALBRIGHT
Right-hander Luke Albright is coming off an impressive outing against the Rockets, striking out 12 in his five innings of work. He has now fanned 60 in just over 46 innings of work and eight starts. USA Baseball took notice, naming him to the Golden Spikes Award Mid-Season Watch List. Albright has not allowed more than five hits and two earned runs in any of his starts this season.
ABOUT THE CHIPPEWAS
The pre-season choice to win the conference, the Chippewas are 17-10 overall and 9-3 in the MAC, one game behind Ball State. The Chippewas and the Golden Flashes are two of the top offenses in the MAC, Central has scored 93 runs in 12 conference games. Mario Camilleti and Zach Gilles are leading the offense, averaging better than a hit per game in MAC play. The Chippewas also love to run, stealing 19-of-20 bases in 12 conference games.
Central Michigan also sports a 3.43 team earned run average, good for second in the MAC. The Chippewas make you earn your way on base, walking only 30 batters in 94 MAC innings this season. Right-hander Jordan Patty threw a complete game shutout of Bowling Green last time out and fellow righty Andrew Taylor joined Albright on the Golden Spikes Award Watch List.
