
Flashes Win Streak Snapped by Miami

OXFORD, Ohio – The Kent State field hockey team (5-2, 3-2) was defeated by Miami 3-0 in their first game of the weekend at the Field Hockey Complex, snapping their previous five game win streak.
Miami was on the attack from the beginning and finished leading the Flashes in shots, shots on goal, and penalty corners with 21, 13, and 8, respectively.
After a first quarter that ended with the game still tied at 0-0, the RedHawks struck twice at the 17:11 and 20:36 minute marks to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Paula Pena and Claudia Garcia were credited with the goals.
Miami would score one more time halfway through the third quarter to go up 3-0.
Sophomore Maria Cambra Soler and freshman Sydney Washburn led the way for the Flashes each registering a shot on goal. Senior goalkeeper Azure Fernsler finished with 10 saves on the day.
Kent State will be back in action tomorrow Saturday, Apr. 3 for a rematch against Miami at 3:30 p.m.
