Flashes Travel to Miami for MAC Showdown
4/1/2021 12:19:00 PM | Field Hockey
The Kent State field hockey team (5-1, 3-1) travels to Oxford, Ohio to take on the Miami RedHawks on Friday, Apr. 2 and Saturday Apr. 3 at the Field Hockey Complex. Friday's game begins at 3 p.m. and Saturday's game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The Flashes win streak grew to five after two hard fought victories this past weekend against Appalachian State. They look to continue their hot streak by taking down Miami, the reigning MAC Champions who currently hold a one game lead on Kent State in conference play.
SCOUTING MIAMI
The RedHawks finished 2019 with a 13-8 overall record and are off to a 7-1 start this Spring. They return their top two leading point scorers from last year in Leonor Berlie (35) and Allie Grace Joyner (19). Berlie and Joyner also led the team in goals scored with 15 and 8, respectively. Newcomer Claudia Negrete Garcia leads the way so far in 2020 with 11 points and 5 goals.
THE SERIES
Last season, the Golden Flashes fell to Miami in a tightly contested battle 2-1 in the MAC Championship match. Kent State now holds a 49-37-2 all-time series advantage over the RedHawks.
