
Flashes Track and Field Travels to RedHawk Invitational

The Kent State track and field teams travel to Oxford, Ohio to compete in the RedHawk Invitational on Saturday, April 24 at the George L. Rider Track.
Competition begins on Saturday at 9 a.m. with the women's hammer throw and men's javelin throw. Running events get time on the track starting at 10:30 a.m. Competition will come to a close after the men's 4x400-meter relay beginning at 2:25 p.m.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State has 16 student-athletes who rank in the top 5 in the Mid-American Conference in their respective events traveling to the RedHawk Invitational.
Scott Benco, Grace Tennant, and Leah Pasqualetti all hold the top spot in their respective events. Benco ranks first in the men's javelin (209'-7"), Tennant is first in the women's shot put (53'-6.25"), and Pasqualetti is tied for first in the women's pole vault (13'-9.25"). Bradley Heck joins Benco in the top 5 in the javelin ranking fourth (198'-11") while Gabby Bailey joins Tennant in the shot put ranking third (51'-6.75").
Tennant also holds the second-place rank in the women's javelin (148'-2") and both Tennant and Bailey are ranked third (172'-0") and fourth (165'-8") in the women's discus throw, respectively.
Rounding out the women who rank in the top 5 in the MAC include Lillie Franks and Desiree Thomas in the women's high jump. Franks secured a second-place ranking getting over the bar at 5'-8" while Thomas ranks fourth (5'-7").
On the men's side, Kristian Kneffler and Lukas Van Der Watt hold the second and third place rankings in the pole vault with Kneffler clearing a height of 16'-10.75" and Van Der Watt clearing 16'-6.75".
The men's team has three other pairs of teammates who rank in the top 5 in their respective events. Brad Jones and Gavin Schoeneman are third (6'-9.75") and fourth (6'-8") in the high jump, respectively. Anthony Milliner and Del'Mario Hairston are third (49'-7.25") and fifth (46'-6.75") in the triple jump, and Hairston and Brian Phillips rank fourth (22'-10") and fifth (22'-8") in the long jump.
Jake Wickey and Jaheim Jones round out the Flashes on the men's side ranking in the top 5. Wickey holds the third-place rank in the hammer throw (214'-8") while Jones ranks fourth in the 100-meter dash finishing in 10.87.
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATE
Kent State field athletes will be back in action on Wednesday, April 28 at Akron while the running athletes will compete again on Saturday, May 1 at West Virginia University.
