
Flashes and Vandette Lead Day One of MAC Championships

FORT WAYNE, Ind.- The Kent State men's golf team and Chris Vandette sit atop the leaderboard of the 2021 MAC Championships after day one at the Sycamore Hills Golf Club. The Flashes posted a 36-hole total of 612 (+36), while Vandette sits at 150 (+6) and is tied for first.
Kent State holds an eight shot lead over second place Northern Illinois and Ball State (+44) and a nine shot lead over third place Bowling Green.
Vandette, who is tied for first, shot a 75 (+3) for his first and second round. In the second round, Vandette birdied twice and eagled on the par-5 No. 5 hole.
Jared Wilson sits tied for third after a 36-hole total of 151 (+7). Wilson opened the day with a 77 (+5) and followed it with a 74 (+2) with five birdies in the second round.
Josh Gilkison and Julien Paltrinieri are both tied for 12th at 156 (+12). Gilkison fired rounds of 79 (+7) and 77 (+5), while Paltrinieri fired a 79 (+7) in the opening round and closed the day with a 77 (+5).
Cade Breitenstine rounded out the lineup with rounds of 83 (+11) and 78 (+6) and is tied for 30th with a 161 (+12).
