Flashes Welcome in Zips in Home Finale

KENT, OHIO- Kent State wraps up its home schedule with a mid-week rivalry game with the Akron Zips on Tuesday night at 5 p.m. at Schoonover Stadium.
The two rivals met earlier in May for a four-game set at Schoonover Stadium with the Golden Flashes taking three-of-four games. Since that four-game set, the Zips took their first series of the season, winning three-of-four against Ohio and Kent State took three games from Western Michigan.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN FLASHES
As mentioned above, Kent State took three of four from Western Michigan over the weekend to improve to 27-24 and 20-16 in the MAC heading into the final week of the regular season. Kent State scored 39 runs over the four games and now leads the Mid-American Conference with a .296 team batting average.
Cam Touchette leads a group of five starters who are batting over .300 this season. The senior outfielder is second in the MAC in average (.376) and hits (64). Collin Mathews (.353) and Justin Miknis (.348) join Touchette amongst the top-10 hitters in the MAC.
On the mound, Kent State got six strong innings from Richie Dell as he picked up his third win of the season. Jack Kartsonas got the win on Friday and then closed out the game on Sunday, picking up his first collegiate save in the process.
ABOUT THE ZIPS
Akron comes into Tuesday's game at 14-36 on the season. Cameron Tilly continues to lead the Zips' offense, hitting .304 in 48 games for Akron. Tilly and Connor Regan have provided the pop in the lineup, tying for the team lead with four homers each.
On the mound, Conor Steinbaugh has enjoyed a strong season for Akron. He is 3-2 overall with a 2.89 earned run average over 37 innings.
