KENT, Ohio - The Kent State University field hockey team has announced its 2021 season schedule, which includes seven home games, seven conference contests, and a total of 17 games.
The Golden Flashes field hockey team, under the leadership of third-year head coach Kyle DeSandes-Moyer, begins its 2021 gamut of matches with a scrimmage at Lock Haven August 21. The regular season gets underway on August 27, when Kent State returns home to Murphy-Mellis Field to host three straight home games, the first of which coming against Michigan State. The home stand continues against Saint Louis August 29, before finishing up with a game against Ohio State August 31.
After that, the Flashes take to the road, facing off with Syracuse, Northwestern, and Maine, on September 4, 10, and 11, respectively (both the Northwestern and Maine games are to be played at Northwestern's facility).
The women then begin Mid-American Conference play September 17, when they host Ohio, before taking on Central Michigan in a road contest September 24. They round out the month against non-conference opponent and 2020-21 NCAA Tournament runner-up Michigan September 26.
The Flashes start off October with an away game versus Bellarmine, then play their final three home games of the season: against Longwood October 8, Indiana October 10, and reigning MAC regular season champion Miami October 15. They then round out the regular season with four contests on the road, taking on Bucknell October 17, Appalachian State October 22, Liberty October 24, and Ball State October 30.
The MAC tournament takes place November 5-6.
The Golden Flashes field hockey team heads into 2021 following an impressive 11-3 2020-21 season, having gone a perfect 6-0 at home. Four All-MAC honorees return from last season, including senior Helena Cambra Soler and fifth-year student Clara Rodriguez Seto, both of whom were named first team All-MAC.
