Kent State falls to Miami

OXFORD, Ohio – The Kent State field hockey team (6-6, 4-1 MAC) fell 2-1 against Miami (8-6, 4-1 MAC) this afternoon.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Golden Flashes lead in shots (2-0). A minute and a half into the second quarter, Miami struck first and scored on a deflected pass. During the third quarter, the Flashes earned a penalty stroke after a Miami defender blocked a shot with her body in front of the cage. Patricia Strunk took the stroke and scored to bring the game 1-1. With four minutes remaining in the final quarter, the RedHawks scored off a penalty corner and held the Flashes until the end of regulation.
The Golden Flashes return to Murphy-Mellis Field on Sunday, Oct 16 at 12 p.m. to face off against No. 4 Penn State.
