Kent State hosts Central Michigan for Senior Day

The Kent State field hockey team (5-5, MAC 3-0) is set to host Central Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 12 p.m. Before the game, the senior class of 2022 will be honored.
About the Flashes
The Golden Flashes return home after traveling to Athens and Columbus to take on Ohio University and Ohio State. Against the Bobcats, Patricia Strunk scored the game-winning overtime goal with an assist by Larissa Balachick from mid-field. Strunk scored her second goal of the game and Balachick recorded her second assist as well. The Flashes won 4-3 over the Bobcats. Then Kent State fell to Ohio State 4-0 on Sunday. Cecile van Eijck totaled 10 saves for the weekend.
The Flashes lead the MAC for shots on goal (76) and assists (27). Maia Sarrabayrouse (9) and Patricia Strunk (11) lead in points for the season.
Scouting Central Michigan
The Chippewas (1-10, 0-3 MAC) opened the season opener with a 2-0 win against Saint Louis. Since then, Central Michigan has fallen for 10 straight games. The Chippewas rank No. 1 nationally in saves per game (9.64). Amilia Lane is ranked No. 2 in the MAC with most assists (6). The Chippewas are also ranked No. 1 in the MAC with most saves (122).
The Series
The Golden Flashes overall record over the Chippewas is 58-16. In 2021, Central Michigan won 1-0 against Kent State but the Flashes dominated the game in total shots (26-11) and penalty corners (14-4). In the last nine matchups, Kent State has not allowed more than two goals for Central Michigan. Kent State has a 30-5 home record against the Chippewas.
