Kent State wins against Central Michigan

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State field hockey team (6-5, 4-0 MAC) won 5-0 against Central Michigan this afternoon.
The Golden Flashes celebrated the class of 2022 before the game for senior day. The Flashes dominated on the field with shots (25-3), shots on goal (15-2), and corners (6-2). In the first quarter, Sydney Washburn scored her second goal of the season, and two minutes later, Danielle Hamm converted a goal off a penalty corner.
Going into the second quarter, Kent State had a 2-0 lead over Central Michigan. During a penalty corner, Agustina Florio scored the third goal of the game from assists by Larissa Balachick and Danielle Hamm.
At 37:52 of the third quarter, the Golden Flashes earned another corner and Maria Cambra Soler scored to take the lead to 4-0.
In the final 15 minutes of the game, Patricia Strunk had a breakaway towards the circle after a pass from Larissa Balachick. Strunk took the shot and the ball flew into the top of the cage as Central Michigan's goalkeeper just missed it with her blocker.
The Golden Flashes travel to Oxford to take on Miami University on Friday, Oct. 14. Then return home to Murphy-Mellis Field to face off against Penn State on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 12 p.m.
