
Mike Morrow Inducted Into WGCA Coaches Hall of Fame

LAS VEGAS – Former Kent State head women's golf coach Mike Morrow officially became the 54th member of the WGCA Coaches Hall of Fame during an induction ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Planet Hollywood Resort.
A Kent State alumnus and former All-American for the men's team, Morrow took the reigns and developed the Golden Flashes' women's program from the ground up in 1997. His teams dominated the Mid-American Conference with championships in all 14 of his seasons at the helm. The 2001 Golfweek National Coach of the Year and two-time Central Region Coach of the Year led Kent State to four NCAA Championship appearances and 12 NCAA Regional appearances.
The Flashes totaled three WGCA All-America honors and 13 MAC Golfer of the Year awards under Morrow guidance. His student-athletes also excelled in the classroom, earning CoSIDA Academic All-America status on three occasions as well as WGCA All-American Scholar accolades 31 times.
A native of Stow, Ohio, Morrow was the first All-America golfer in Golden Flash history, earning honorable mention in 1973. He was the MAC medalist that year and earned All-MAC honors for three consecutive seasons (1973-75). He was inducted into the Varsity "K" Hall of Fame in 1987.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition.
