Flashes Track and Field Dominates Friday’s Running Events

KENT, Ohio – Kent State took the top spot in four of the six running events in which it had a competitor to highlight Friday's action at the Doug Raymond National Qualifier inside the Kent State Field House.

Mi'Angel Daniels and Alexander Shields gave the Golden Flashes a sweep of the 60-meter hurdles. Daniels clocked a season-best time of 8.55 seconds to cross the finish line first in the finals. Benja Duff set a personal-best in both the prelims and finals and placed third with a time of 8.71 seconds. Shields continued his stellar season with a time of 8.02 seconds in the finals to follow a season-best 8.01 in the prelims.

Asa Hodrick sprinted to victory in a time of 21.39 in the men's 200-meter dash.

Trey Double, Drew Johnson, Ethan Yost and Baidy Ba won the 4x800 meter relay in 7:38.31, just 0.19 seconds off the school record.

Jake Wickey outthrew his competition in the men's weight throw with a toss of 71'-1". Cole Dean finished in fourth, throwing for 55'-6".

Kent State had five additional athletes post top-five finishes in field events. Sarena Choi (19'-1.25") and Brian Phillips (23'-2.75") took third in the women's and men's long jump, respectively. Leah Pasqualetti secured a third-place finish in the women's pole vault by clearing the bar at 12'-11". Grace Luther had a top throw of 57'-5" to place third in the women's weight throw. Briana Wright was close behind in fifth place (55'-3").

The Doug Raymond National Qualifier will continue Saturday morning. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. inside the Kent State Field House.
