
Kent State Begins Outdoor Track and Field Season

The Kent State track and field program will travel to NC State for its first meet of the outdoor season this weekend and will compete in the Raleigh Relays from Thursday, March 24 though Saturday, March 25. One of the largest collegiate meets on the East Coast, approximately 150 teams will make the trip to Paul Derr Track for the competition.
The meet will begin with the women's pole vault, women's shot put and men's javelin throw at 10 a.m. Thursday. The women's javelin throw and men's shot put will take place in the afternoon to conclude field event action on opening day. Running events are slated to start at 4:45 p.m. with the men's 1500-meter run. The men's 5000-meter run and women's 10,000-meter run will also be held on Thursday, with the final section to start at 10:25 p.m. The full meet schedule can be viewed here.
BROADCAST AND RESULTS INFO
Two-hour windows of each day will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra, which can be viewed on any streaming device. The windows will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, 7:15-9:15 p.m. Friday and 3-5 p.m. Saturday. Live results from the entire meet can be viewed here.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State has 54 student-athletes registered for action at the Raleigh Relays, highlighted by
All-American Gabby Bailey, who placed sixth in the women's discus and 15 in the women's shot put at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Five Golden Flashes who captured Mid-American Conference titles last spring are slated for competition, including Bailey (women's discus throw, women's shot put), Scott Benco (men's javelin throw), Kristian Kneffler (men's pole vault), Anthony Milliner (men's triple jump) and Grace Tennant (women's javelin throw).
On the men's side, six athletes who own top-10 spots on Kent State's all-time performance list will be in action. Those athletes are Scott Benco (javelin throw), Joe Farley (5000-meter run), Kristian Kneffler (pole vault), Anthony Milliner (triple jump), Lukas Van Der Watt (pole vault) and Jake Wickey (hammer throw). Seven members of the women's team who have top-10 marks are scheduled to compete. Those athletes are Gabby Bailey (discus throw, shot put), Sarena Choi (long jump), Mi'Angel Daniels (100-meter hurdles), Lillie Franks (high jump), Ruby Greenwood (400-meter dash), Marissa Henley (hammer throw) and Grace Tennant (javelin throw).
ALONE IN THE LONESTAR STATE
Leah Pasqualetti is the only Flash who will headed to Texas for the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Pasqualetti will compete in the women's pole vault at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Live results can be followed here.
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATE
The Golden Flashes will return to action at the Northeast Ohio Quad, which will be hosted by at Ashland on Saturday, April 2.
