11 Golden Flashes Gymnasts Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced its 2022 Gymnastics Academic All-MAC team on Thursday, with 11 Kent State gymnasts being recognized for the achievement, the second most in the conference. The Academic All-MAC honor is awarded to student-athletes who have excelled in both athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. The following are the Kent State honorees:
Olivia Amodei, Junior, Public Health, 3.848 GPA
Riley Danielson, Senior, Fashion Merchandising, 3.878 GPA
Rachel DeCavitch, Junior, Communications, 3.529 GPA
Karlie Franz, Junior, Psychology, 3.737 GPA
Kyndall Gilbert, Sophomore, Biology, 3.645 GPA
Sarah Haxton, Sophomore, Nursing, 3.847 GPA
Samantha Henry, Senior, Marketing, 3.482 GPAÂ
Madison Iannuzzo, Senior, Human Resource Management, 3.912 GPA
Cami Klein, Senior, Exercise Science, 3.957 GPA
Kendra Lindway, Senior, Exercise Science, 3.918 GPA
Kennedy Weinpert, Sophomore, Exercise Science, 3.791 GPA
These 11 Golden Flashes gymnasts succeeded in the classroom while also competing at a high level within their sport, helping Kent State finish the regular season tied for first place in the MAC. DeCavitch, Franz, and Haxton also advanced to NCAA Regionals as individuals.
Eight Flashes on the list are repeat winners, while sophomores Gilbert, Haxton, and Weinpert receive the honor for the first time (freshmen are ineligible for Academic All-MAC).
