Gymnastics Ready to Showcase Skills at Blue-Gold Exhibition on Sunday

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team kicks off the 2025-26 season on Sunday in the M.A.C. Center as the Golden Flashes host the team's annual Blue-Gold exhibition meet at 1 p.m.
Admission is free for all fans who wish to attend.
ABOUT THE FLASHES
It will be the fans' first opportunity to see the reigning Mid-American Conference Regular Season Champions in action this season. The Flashes posted a perfect 6-0 record in MAC competition last season, also boasting an undefeated 6-0 home record in meets contested at the M.A.C. Center. A signature moment of the 2024-25 season came in February, when the Flashes posted a fly-the-flag victory over Pitt in the team's penultimate MAC contest of the season.
The Flashes return 20 gymnasts from last season, including four All-MAC honorees - Nene Alvine, Charlie Behner, Nastia Rudnitskaya, and Heidi Schultz. Kent State has four freshmen newcomers on the 2025-26 roster – Taylor Archambeau, Lana Mast, Ashlyn Pearson, and Ashlynd Werner.
FLASHBACK TO LAST YEAR'S BLUE-GOLD MEET
The blue squad claimed the victory at last season's Blue-Gold meet, led by a 9.850 on vault by Alvine and a pair of 9.825 scores by Dani Fuertez and Rudnitskaya on the floor. Rudnitskaya also claimed the all-around title with a final mark of 39.325.
Schultz led the gold team, highlighted by a 9.950 on beam.
LOOKING AHEAD
Kent State will open the competitive season and its MAC Regular Season title defense on Sunday, January 11, as the Golden Flashes welcome the Northern Illinois Huskies to the M.A.C. Center in what could be the final meeting between the two squads as conference foes.
