Flashes Sit Six Strokes Back After Day One of MAC Championship

?????Naperville, ILL.... The Kent State men's golf team will have work to do after day one of the Mid-American Conference Championship, after strong opening rounds from Eastern Michigan and Toledo, who sit just ahead of the Flashes going into Saturday.
The Eagles currently lead at a single stroke over par, three clear of Toledo at +4 and six ahead of Kent State at +7.
The field is led by EMU's Cougar Collins, who carded a 67 in the opening round, but who has several golfers bearing down on him including a pair of Flashes in Chris Vandette and Josh Gilkison.
Vandette and Gilkison turned in opening rounds of 71 and 72 respectively to wrap up Friday in third and fourth. Kent State, Toledo and Eastern each have two golfers at or under par and in the top-five going into round two.
Jordan Gilkison and Luca Civello finished their day four strokes over par as part of a 7-way tie for 16th to keep four of the five Flashes in the top half of the field in Naperville.
Saturday's tee time is set for 11:00 and will see the Flashes paired with Toledo.
