
Golden Flashes Fall to Hofstra in Double Overtime

ORONO, Maine โ The Kent State field hockey team fell to Hofstra, 2-1, in double overtime Saturday during a hard-fought battle at the Maine Field Hockey Complex.
The Golden Flashes (2-3) broke a scoreless contest with 3:18 remaining in the third period as junior Alex Sacker converted off a penalty corner with assists recorded by freshman Iris Bekker and junior Danielle Hamm.
Kent State was within five minutes of posting a shutout, but the Pride were able to tie it after being awarding a penalty stroke with 4:13 left in the fourth.
Neither team was able to score during the first overtime period, but Hofstra was able to get the game-winner just 1:58 into the second overtime.
Sophomore Cecile van Eijck made a career-high 12 saves for the Flashes, as the Pride held a 23-9 advantage in shots.
Kent State will face off against Maine on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 2:30 p.m.
