
Flashes Announce Football Promotional Schedule

KENT- Kent State University football celebrates its 100th season with five home games in 2022. Students and are welcomed back to Dix Stadium complete with a refreshed appearance along with enhanced game day amenities and expanded dining options. Key dates include Parent and Family Weekend, Homecoming, and the 50th anniversary of the historical 1972 team.
ARRIVING AT DIX STADIUM
Upon arriving at the gates, fans will notice bold new graphics and signage welcoming them to Dix Stadium. The Golden Flashes Club will host Kent State supporters in the newly renovated Jim and Carolyn Phelan Lounge. Student fans will be ushered from the tailgating spaces through the rebranded Gold Zone entrance, featuring gold roadway and enhanced signage to guide them to a larger student fan section.Â
CONCESSION OPTIONS
Concessions will still offer the classics, such as hot dogs, burgers and popular meal deals. Flash fans will be introduced to new menu items including beef brisket sandwiches, garlic fries with parmesan aioli and pretzel wrapped hotdogs. SEATING
New this year, fans in general admission areas can check out a portable chair back seat for a more comfortable game day experience. Rentals begin at just $12 per game and fans can pick up the seats as they pass through the main west entrance.
HOME OPENER
The Golden Flashes open the home season on Saturday, September 17 with Parent and Family Weekend as they host the Sharks of Long Island University at 12 noon. Parents & Families will have the opportunity to participate in a pre-tame tailgate at the Field House directly behind Dix Stadium. The tailgate will feature food, games, a DJ and showcases from the Kent State Cheer and Dance teams as well as the Kent State Band.
The 2022 home opener is a Gold Out! Fans are encouraged to sport the best gold Kent State gear.
The 2022 Varsity "K" Athletics Hall of Fame class, consisting of nine members, will be honored as part of the 43rd induction ceremony on Friday, Sept. 16. The 2022 Hall of Fame class will also be recognized during the game on Saturday.
HOMECOMING
On Saturday, October 1, Kent State hosts Ohio University at 3:30 p.m. in the annual homecoming game. It will be a "blue out" as fans are encouraged to dress in their best Kent State blue. This year's homecoming theme is Memories and Milestones featuring a special recognition of the 50 Years of Title IX and women's sports as we honor many of the trailblazers in Kent State women's athletics history. The festivities begin on with a Friday night kick-off in downtown Kent. Â On Saturday morning, female athlete alumni will serve as the parade grand marshals leading up to the All-Alumni Tailgate at Dix Stadium.
WAGON WHEEL RIVALRY
The Wagon Wheel Challenge pits Kent State against its local foe the Zips on October 22. The Golden Flashes have won the Wagon Wheel each of the last three seasons including a 38-0 road shutout victory last season. The annual rivalry game will be a "White Out" fans are encouraged to pack Dix Stadium and help the Flashes retain the wheel for the fourth-straight season.
A special recognition honoring the 50th anniversary of the 1972 team, the first Kent State team to win the Mid-American Conference. Â In addition, all fall sports Kent State student-athletes will receive their Varsity "K" letter jackets.
MID-WEEK MACTION
Ball State comes to town on Tuesday, November 1st , in the first of two mid-week MACtion contests. It will be our Salute to Service night, as we recognize the brave men and women of the armed forces and first responders. It will also be Scout Night for all local Boy and Girl Scout troops in the community.
Kent State closes out the home season on Wednesday, November 16th  against Eastern Michigan. The regular season finale will be Senior Night for the Golden Flashes football team and band. It will also be the second annual "Prez D Freeze Out", with details to follow.
PLAN AHEAD
Fans are encouraged to make a plan and arrive early to avoid the traffic and enjoy the tailgate before the game. Free shuttle buses will be available for fans that park at the M.A.C. center or other lots around campus, most are free on game days. Make sure to check out the "Know Before You Go" to make sure you are game-day ready and familiar with Dix Stadium.
