
Flashes Cross Country Returns to Action in East Lansing

The Kent State cross country teams will be back in action on Friday at the Spartan Invitational. Michigan State University's Forest Akers East Golf Course will host the meet. The women's 6K will start the day at 11 a.m. with the men's 8K to follow at 11:40 a.m.
Previewing the Flashes
For the first time since 2014, Kent State is ranked in the USTFCCA Men's Cross Country Great Lakes Regional Poll. The Golden Flashes came in at No. 15 in the Week 1 poll, which was released on Monday. Baidy Ba and Joe Farley finished fourth and fifth, respectively, to lead Kent State to a second-place showing at the Ohio XC Invitational on Sept. 2. Shadrack Kipkosgei, Jonah Cuestas and Ethan Yost all had top-11 finishes.
The Flashes took third on the women's side. Leah Lisle led the way with a ninth-place finish and Sydney Gallagher placed 25th.
The Field
Twenty teams are registered for both races. On the men's side, host Michigan State (No. 5) and Cincinnati (No. 8) are ranked in the Great Lake Region. The Spartans (No. 4) and Western Michigan (No. 15) are ranked on the women's side.

Kent State's next scheduled competition is the Live in Lou Classic on Saturday, Oct. 1 in Louisville, Kentucky.
