
Golden Flashes host Miami and Lock Haven

The Kent State field hockey team (3-9, 2-2 MAC) prepares for a Mid-American Conference contest against Miami on Friday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. and then celebrate the 2023 senior class on Sunday, Oct. 15 against Lock Haven at 12 p.m.
About the Flashes
This past weekend, Patricia Strunk secured the tying goal against App State early in the second quarter to lead the Flashes into double overtime and a shootout. Kent State led 11-7 in shots on goal and 7-2 in corners. On Sunday, the Flashes fell 3-0 No. 7 Ohio State. The Golden Flashes are ranked second in the MAC for shots (142) and corners (71). Eva Usoz currently leads the team in goals (6) and is No. 5 in the conference. Strunk is tied for third in the MAC in assists (4).
Scouting Miami
The RedHawks (9-5, 4-0 MAC) remained undefeated in MAC play by beating Ohio University 3-1 on Friday. Claudia Negrete Garcia leads Miami with eight goals and 19 points, and is the MAC leader with four goals and 10 points in league games. Goalkeeper Isabelle Perese is first in the MAC for goals against average (1.29) and second in save percentage (.750).
Scouting Lock Haven
The Bald Eagles (4-7) are ranked third in the Atlantic-10 Conference for save percentage (.724). Leading Lock Haven, Constanza Lopez Zabala has recorded six goals, 13 points, and one defensive save. Brooke Hofsass has scored five goals.
The Series
The Flashes are 50-40-2 overall against Miami and have won two in a row at Murphy-Mellis Field.
Kent State is 8-8-1 against Lock Haven. The team's last meeting was in 2016 when the Flashes won 2-1 and outshot the Bald Eagles 19-7.
