
Flashes Volleyball Heads to Ball State and Toledo

The Kent State volleyball team will play on the road once again this weekend, heading to Ball State on Friday and then traveling to Toledo on Saturday. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State (5-17, 1-10 MAC) was unable to win a set in two matches last weekend at Bowling Green.
Outside hitter Mackenzie McGuire is the MAC leader with 4.32 points per set and 3.99 kills per set. McGuire surpassed 500 career kills against Western Michigan on Oct. 5 and is averaging the most kills per set since the 2009 season. Setter Kendall White orchestrates the offense and averages 6.97 assists per set, which puts her ninth in the conference.
Libero Bryn Roberts ranks fourth in the conference in digs per set (4.21) and ninth in aces per set (0.36). Roberts became the 15th member of Kent State's 1,000 digs club last Friday night and sits sixth all-time in digs per set (3.23).
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Ball State
The Cardinals (12-10, 9-2 MAC) had won 10 in a row prior to a pair of 3-2 losses at Buffalo last weekend. Ball State leads the MAC in blocks per set (2.41).
Middle blocker Aniya Kennedy averages 3.93 kills per set to rank second in the conference. Middle blocker Marie Plitt is also second in the MAC with a .381 hitting percentage and adds 2.51 kills per set. Setter Megan Wielonski ranks third in the conference in assists per set (10.09).
Toledo
The Rockets (10-12, 8-3 MAC) got back in the win column last weekend with two victories at Akron. Toledo ranks second in the conference in digs per set (15.77).
Outside hitter Taylor Alt recently broke the program's all-time kills record and is averaging 3.91 kills per set this season. Middle blocker Jada Bouyer adds 2.39 kills per set while leading the Rockets in hitting percentage (.308). Libero Ryann Jaqua (5.10 dps) sits at No. 10 nationally with 449 digs.
SERIES HISTORY
Kent State is 18-43 all-time against Ball State and has lost three straight in the series.
The Golden Flashes are 34-35 all-time against Toledo and have lost four in a row.
UP NEXT
Kent State will return to the M.A.C. Center to play Central Michigan on Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 4 for Senior Night.
