
Kent State Drops Weekend Opener to CMU

KENT, Ohio โ The Kent State volleyball team lost to Central Michigan, 3-0 (12-25, 18-25, 16-25) in a Mid-American Conference volleyball contest inside of the M.A.C. Center on Friday evening.
The Golden Flashes (6-19, 2-12 MAC) struggled to slow their guest's attack as the Chippewas finished with their highest hitting percentage (.367) of the conference season.
Sophomore Mackenzie McGuire and freshman Logan Henderson led Kent State with eight kills each. Sophomore Kendall White recorded 22 assists.
Senior Bryn Roberts led the defense with 12 digs, while graduate student Burgundy Walters totaled a team-high five total blocks.
How it Happenedโฆ
ย ย ย Set 1 (12-25): Kent State came out strong and led 5-2 early before Central Michigan scored seven straight points as part of a 16-2 run to pull away. The Chippewas posted a .531 hitting percentage for the set.
ย ย ย Set 2 (18-25): The early portion of the set was a back-and-forth battle. After CMU went ahead 15-14 at the media timeout, Logan Henderson delivered a kill to even the score. The Chippewas took the next four points, however, and the Golden Flashes were unable to score back-to-back the rest of the set.
ย ย ย Set 3 (16-25): Kent State lost the first four points and trailed by as many as seven points before a strong serving run by Mackenzie McGuire made it 16-12. CMU countered with a 9-4 run to close it out.

Senior Night is up next for Kent State on Saturday with first serve against Central Michigan scheduled for 4 p.m.
