
Women’s Basketball Beats La Roche, Posts Record Margin of Victory

KENT, Ohio — The Kent State women's basketball team set a program record for margin of victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating La Roche by a score of 109-31. The 78-point margin topped the previous record of 72 against Hiram last season.
The Golden Flashes (6-4) nearly matched the single-game mark for assists and finished with 36 to come one short of the record set on Nov. 30, 1990, against Stetson. Sophomore Corynne Hauser led the way with a career-high nine assists. Sophomore Dionna Gray (5), graduate student Abby Ogle (5), freshman Mya Babbitt (4), junior Jenna Batsch (4), junior Lexy Linton (2) and junior Eléna Maier (2) also posted career-high assist performances.
Kent State dominated from the opening tip and scored the contest's first 22 points. The Flashes shot 44-of-74 overall for a season-high 59.5% from the field.
Redshirt senior Katie Shumate scored a game-high 17 points. Junior Bridget Dunn made all three of her three-point attempts and finished with a season-high 13 points. Freshman Janae Tyler and graduate student Mikala Morris also scored in double-figures with 12 points and 10 points, respectively.
The Flashes will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 3 as Mid-American Conference play begins at Buffalo.
