Gymnastics to Kick Off 2023-24 Season with Blue-Gold Meet Sunday

KENT, Ohioย โ The Kent State gymnastics team is set to kick off the 2023-24 season with its annual Blue and Gold meet on Sunday, December 10 at 1ย p.m. at the Memorial Athletic Convocation Center.ย
Admission is free for everyone. Following the meet, the Golden Flashes will be signing autographs for all fans in attendance.
ABOUT THE FLASHES
Two of the three Golden Flashes that earned a spot at the NCAA Norman Regional โ Karlie Franz and Alyssa Guns, who both qualified on floor โ return to Head Coach Brice Biggin's squad and will look to lead Kent State to a team postseason berth.ย
The Flashes also welcome seven newcomers to the squad this year. Six freshman โ Nene Alvine, Dani Fuertez, Grace Knurek, Ashley Morgan, Kaileigh Norton, and Gabby Riley โ will look to immediately make an impact for the Flashes, while sophomore Charlie Behner comes to Kent after spending her freshman season at Temple.ย
FLASHBACK TO LAST YEAR'S BLUE-GOLD MEET
Last season, the Gold team came out victorious for the second year in a row. Kennedy Weinpert won the all-around while Grace Wehry came in second in the yearly showcase. Guns took home the vault and floor titles, while Franz tied for the win on bars.ย
UP NEXT
The regular season officially gets underway after the New Year when the Flashes travel to face Pitt on Saturday, January 13, at 4 p.m. The Flashes will return to the M.A.C. Center at the end of January when they host West Virginia on Sunday, January 28, at 1 p.m.
