Flashes Travel To WNY to Take on the Bulls

Buffalo, N.Y. - The Kent State men's basketball team (19-5, 9-2 MAC) travels to face the Buffalo Bulls (12-12, 6-5 MAC) on Friday, Feb. 10. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. on ESPN2 with Connor Onion on play-by-play and Noah Savage as the analyst.
The Flashes are coming off a 20+ point win against the BGSU Falcons. Malique Jacobs carried the Flashes with a team-high 17 points, seven assists, and seven steals. Chris Payton shot perfectly from the field and foul line while forward Cli'Ron Hornbeak had a career-high 14 points. The win set a new MAC Era Record for the longest home game win streak with 19 wins.
Kent has five players that average double-digits including offensive leader Sincere Carry who averages 16.8 points per game. Guard Malique Jacobs continues to lead the MAC with 3.0 steals per game and is third in Kent State History with 68 steals this season.
The Flashes have continued to apply pressure on the defensive end holding their opponents to 64.1 points per game, second in the MAC. They are also first in the conference shooting 39.7 percent from the field and 16.4 forced turnovers. The Flashes are 6-5 on the road this season allowing 64.0 points per game and scoring 65.6 points per game. Kent State leads the MAC with a +11.00 scoring margin. The Flashes are also fifth in the Nation with a 5.1 turnover margin.
This will be the 59th all-time meeting between the Golden Flashes and Buffalo Bulls. During the last matchup, the Flashes beat the Bulls in the MAC Center, 74-68. The Flashes are looking to sweep the Bulls in conference play for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
Scouting the Bulls
The Buffalo Bulls (12-12, 6-5 MAC) look to redeem themselves against the Golden Flashes at home. The Bulls have won the last four of their five home games against the Flashes.
The Bulls are coming off a road win against Eastern Michigan, 102-97. They had six players finish in double digits and the team shot over 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arch.
The Bulls lead the conference with 38.5 rebounds per game and 15.6 assists per game and are second in the MAC in scoring with 80.1 points per game.Â
The Bulls hold the longest active win streak in the Nation for the month of February with 14. They went 9-0 last season and are 21-4 in February in the Whitesell Era.
