MT Pleasant, MI- Kent State dropped a heartbreaking pitcher's dual on Sunday afternoon, dropping a 2-1 ball game at Central Michigan.

Eric Chalus tossed six innings of two-run, one earned baseball on Sunday for the Golden Flashes. The lefty scattered seven hits and worked out of a couple of tough jams, including a bases loaded, nobody out situation in the fifth. Peyton Cariaco and Calvin Bickerstaff tossed two innings of perfect relief, needing just 18 pitches between them to get six outs. But Central pushed across single tallies in the third and the sixth on run-scoring groundouts and that proved to be the difference.

The Flashes offense continually threatened on Sunday. The Flashes had two on in the first, seventh and eighth and a runner in scoring position in the fifth, but couldn't find the timely hit to push across a run.

That changed in the ninth. Mack Timbrook led off the inning with a walk. Brody Williams continued his strong series with a double to score Timbrook and make it a 2-1 game. A sacrifice pushed Williams to third but he got no further as a pop-up and ground out followed and ended the game.

The loss puts Kent State at 16-7 overall and 4-2 in the MAC while Central Michigan is 13-9 overall and also 4-2 in conference play. The Flashes stay on the road to close out the five-game road trip, heading to Bloomington to face the Indiana Hoosiers. First pitch on Tuesday night is set for 6 p.m.
