KENT-The Golden Flashes wrap up a five-game home stand on Wednesday at 3 p.m. as they face the Tiffin Dragons for the first time in program history.
Wednesday's game vs the Dragons replaces the previously scheduled game at Youngstown State that was canceled due to a scheduling conflict.
The Flashes are winners of seven straight after sweeping the Akron Zips last weekend. Aidan Longwell has been scorching as of late, riding a nine-game hitting streak and has 20 hits during the streak. He went 11-for-14 last week to earn MAC Player of the Week honors and leads the MAC with a .426 batting average. Longwell is the outright leader in five different offensive categories in the Mid-American Conference.
He headlines a balanced offense that leads the MAC with a .303 team batting average and in scoring at over eight runs per game. Eleven different Flashes have at least 14 runs batted in and four different players have 10 or more doubles. Kent State as a team ranks seventh nationally with 89 doubles this season.
Like most midweek games, it will likely be a bullpen day for Kent State on Wednesday. The staff as a whole leads the MAC with a 3.79 ERA. Benny Roebuck and Jack Kartsonas have gotten the last few midweek starts. Roebuck got out of an inherited eighth-inning jam in Sunday's win while Kartsonas tossed two shutout innings in Saturday's victory.
Tiffin, a Division-II program out of the Great Midwest Conference is 11-25 overall and 3-17 in conference play. The Dragons hit .293 as a team, Ben Bach leads the squad with 10 homers and 34 batted in while Griffin Stevens and Tim Orr are both hitting over .400 this season. The Dragons' staff has pitched to an 8.43 ERA.
Wednesday's game will be broadcasted with Tyler Henry and Dan Griffin on the call, live stats will also be provided. Links can be found on the baseball schedule page. The Flashes hit the road this weekend with a three-game set at Miami. The series starts on Friday with a 5 p.m. scheduled first pitch.
