
Van Eekeren Joins Kent State Volleyball Staff

KENT, Ohio โ Jackson Van Eekeren has been hired as an assistant coach for the Kent State volleyball program, head coach Haley Eckerman announced. Van Eekeren brings championship experience and a volleyball pedigree with him to the Golden Flashes' program.
"I'm really excited about having Jackson on our staff," Eckerman said. "He has grown up in the volleyball gym and was part of a championship culture at Hawaii. His experience and knowledge of setting and blocking will be big assets to our team. Jackson meshed really well with the staff during the interview process and is just a true genuine individual. The girls really felt a good connection with him, and that is almost more important to me than having the skill on the court. I want people around our team that want the best for our team on and off the court."
Van Eekeren was a five-year team member at Hawaii, including the 2021 national championship season. The Rainbow Warriors won nearly 85% of its matches during his five seasons as a student-athlete. He earned a spot on the 2019 Big West Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The Naperville, Illinois native was a three-year varsity player Benet Academy, where he played for his mother who was a Division I volleyball student-athlete at Illinois. He he was twice an All-East Suburban Catholic Conference performer. Van Eekeren also compete in USA High Performance during his prep years.
Van Eekeren earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Finance concentration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in May 2020 and completed a Master of Science in Finance in July 2021.
