Seniors Sent Off With Run-Rule Win

KENT- The Flashes sent off its 11-man senior class with a walk-off, run-rule 11-1 victory over Western Michigan to complete a three-game sweep of the Broncos.

In the eighth, the Flashes got a rbi single from Jake Casey and quickly loaded the bases. Collin Mathews brought in a run with a hit-by-pitch and two batters later, Mike McNamara ended it with a two-run bloop double down the left field line. That capped a five-run eighth and sent Kent State to a Division-I best 14-straight wins at home and a 22-1 mark at Schoonover Stadium.
Calvin Bickerstaff earned the rare four-inning save, allowing only two hits and striking out three while keeping the Broncos off the scoreboard. The win moves Kent State to 34-13 on the season and 19-5 in the MAC. They hit the road for the final seven games of the season, starting with a short trip to Canal Park, home of the Akron Rubber Ducks for a mid-week, non-conference game against Akron. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
