KENT- Eleven Kent State athletic programs posted a perfect single-season Academic Progress Rate (APR) score of 1000 and five programs had a perfect multi-year score in the annual APR report released by the NCAA.
"At Kent State we strive to excel in the classroom, community and on the field of play. It is exciting to see the continued academic excellence across our programs," Director of Athletics Randale L. Richmond. "I look forward to our continued growth as we graduate student athletes, boldly prepared for life after sport and win championships."
In addition to the 11 perfect scores, 13 teams improved their single-season APR score from a year ago. Those improvements bumped Kent State's APR average up to a record high department wide 991 single-season APR.
Each academic year, every Division-I sports team across the country calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for remaining eligible and 1 point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.
The NCAA report marks the eighth-straight year that the Golden Flashes had at least four teams that have earned a perfect multi-year APR. The multi-year APR report tracks a program over the four-year period from 2018-2022.
