KENT, Ohio — Kent State's Lindsey Thall is among the 619 institutional nominees for the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year award, the NCAA announced on Wednesday.
Thall concluded her career as the only women's basketball student-athlete in Mid-American Conference history with at least 1,500 points, 200 three-point field goals and 200 blocked shots. She was a two-time All-MAC selection and also earned a spot on the all-defensive team twice. A key member of three teams that made WNIT appearances, Thall holds program records for three-points field goals (267) and games started (241).
In addition to CSC Academic All-District recognition as this past season, Thall was a four-time Academic All-MAC honoree. She graduated in December 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a pre-med concentration and completed a Master of Arts in Sports Administration this past May.
Thall was also the Janet Bachna Award recipient, which recognizes a graduating Kent State female student-athlete demonstrating the most exceptional combined qualities of leadership, positive image, athletic ability and academic performance.
One of the most prestigious NCAA accolades, the Woman of the Year award was established in 1991 to celebrate the achievements of women in intercollegiate athletics. Now in its 33rd year, the NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female college athletes who have distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
Each conference will select nominees to submit to the Woman of the Year selection committee, which will then choose the top 10 honorees in each division. The selection committee will then determine the top three honorees in each division from the Top 30, and the nine finalists will be announced in November. From those nine finalists, the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will choose the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year. The honorees will be celebrated at the Woman of the Year Award Ceremony at the NCAA Convention in Phoenix in January.
