
Golden Flashes Drop Opener to James Madison

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Kent State opened the 2025-26 season with an 80-48 loss on the road to James Madison in a MAC-Sun Belt Challenge matchup on Monday evening.
The Golden Flashes (0-1) trailed 12-0 a little more than two minutes after the opening tip but played even the remainder of the quarter before a steal and layup with a few seconds remaining gave the Dukes a 22-8 lead.
Behind 4-of-9 shooting from behind the three-point arc during the second period, James Madison extended its lead to 45-18 at the half.
Kent State won the third quarter by a score of 18-16 but was unable to bring the deficit under 25 during the fourth.
Junior Riley Rismiller had a double-double with 10 points and game-high 12 rebounds. Redshirt junior Corynne Hauser also had 10 points in her first regular season action in 635 days.
The Flashes have another road challenge next and visit West Virginia on Friday, Nov. 7.
