Ranked No. 10 in the Mid-Major Top 25 entering the season, the Golden Flashes (0-1) fell to James Madison, 80-48, on the road in a MAC-Sun Belt Challenge matchup on Monday. The Mid-American Conference preseason favorite struggled offensively and shot just 15-of-59 (.254) from the field with 25 turnovers. Junior Riley Rismiller led the way with 10 points and 12 rebounds for her first career double-double against a Division I opponent. Redshirt junior Corynne Hauser also scored 10 points to share the team lead in her first regular season action in 635 days.
All four newcomers made their Kent State debuts in the opener. Sophomore Emory Klatt, a transfer from DePaul, was the first Flash off the bench and finished with four points and six rebounds. Freshmen Rylee Kalocay (4 points), Caitlyn Holmes (3 points) and Anna Campanelli (2 points) also entered the scoring column.
