
Flashes Announce Radio Partnerships For 23-24 Season

KENT- Kent State Athletics, in conjuction with multi-media rights partner Van Wagner, is excited to announce partnerships with 1220 AM and ESPN Cleveland to broadcast football and select men's and women's basketball games this season.
This will be the second-straight year that select Kent State men's and women's basketball will air on ESPN Cleveland and the debut of Kent State football, exclusively on 1220 AM. In total, 25 basketball games will air on ESPN Cleveland while all regular and post-season football games will air on 1220 AM.
"I am excited to continue our partnership with ESPN Cleveland and begin a new one with 1220 AM," Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Randale Richmond said. "We have a tremendous fan and alumni base in Northeast Ohio. Establishing a strong media partnership allows us to tell our story and grow our fan base as we start what promises to be an electric athletics' year for the Golden Flashes."
850 ESPN Cleveland remains one of the sports leaders in Northeast Ohio and the Buckeye state and serves as the flagship station for the Cleveland Browns. WHKW 1220 AM is a 50,000 watt station out of Cleveland that is a leader in area high school football coverage and select college football broadcasts. All games will still be available through the GoFlashes app while and all games can be heard on the stations' respective online feeds.
The first radio broadcast of the season will take place on Thursday, August 31st when the Golden Flashes start the 2023 football season at UCF. Pre-game starts at 6:30 p.m. on WHKW 1220 AM with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
