
Volleyball Travels to Iowa for FRYfest Invitational

The Kent State volleyball team is back on the road for the second weekend of the season and will play three matches at the FRYfest Invitational, hosted by the University of Iowa.
The Golden Flashes' match against host Iowa on Saturday evening will be streamed on BTN+.

PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State (0-3) seeks its first win of the season after falling to Butler, UC San Diego and Fresno State during opening weekend at the Bulldog Brawl.
Outside hitter Mackenzie McGuire earned a spot on the all-tournament team and ranks second in the Mid-American Conference at 3.64 kills per set. Defensive specialist/libero Bryn Roberts led the team defensively with 5.18 digs per set, which ranks second in the MAC, and from behind the service line with seven aces. Setter Kendall White recorded a pair of double-doubles and finished with averages of 7.27 assists and 3.09 digs per set.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
South Dakota State
The Jackrabbits went 1-2 during opening weekend at the Rumble in the Rockies, beating Winthrop and falling to Green Bay and Wyoming. Outside hitters Katie Van Egdom (3.73 kps) and Sylvie Zgonc (3.18 kps) combined for more than half of the team's kills at the tournament. Outside hitter Stella Winterfield wore the libero jersey and averaged 3.55 digs per set.
Iowa
The Hawkeyes will open their home schedule after going 1-2 at the Sacramento State Invitational. After beating Cal Poly, Iowa fell to Sacramento State and Nevada. Middle hitter Anna Davis earned a spot on the all-tournament team with a .321 hitting percentage, 21 kills and team-high 13 blocks. Outside hitter Caitlan Buettner led the Hawkeyes with 3.33 kills per set and 4.00 digs per set.
Middle Tennessee
The Blue Raiders lost to Clemson and Wofford by 3-1 scores at the Big Orange Bash last weekend. Outside hitter Laure Jansen posted a double-double in both contests and was named to the all-tournament team. All-Conference USA outside hitter Adri Rhoda led Middle Tennessee with 3.13 kills per set. Setter Taylor Eisert ranks 10th in the country with an average of 11.63 assists per set.
ALL-TIME VS. OPPONENTS
Kent State will be playing South Dakota State and Iowa for the first time and owns a 1-1 record all-time against Middle Tennessee. The Golden Flashes won the first meeting, 2-0, in 1980 and the Blue Raiders evened the series with a 3-0 victory in 1995.
