Flashes fall to the Bobcats

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State field hockey team (2-7, 1-1 MAC) fell 3-2 against Ohio University (3-3, 1-1 MAC) this afternoon.
In the first quarter, the Flashes came out on top, leading 1-0, after three minutes. Eva Usoz scored her fifth goal of the season and currently leads the team (5).
For the second quarter, both teams earned one corner each and Kent State led 2-1 in shots on goal.
The Bobcats tied the game 1-1 late in the third quarter. With five minutes remaining in regulation, the Flashes were awarded a penalty stroke. Iris Bekker scored, and Kent State took the lead 2-1. Shortly after, Ohio pulled the goalie and added an extra field player. The Bobcats were able to secure a goal and tie the game once again. In back-to-back penalty corners, Ohio scored with less than one minute left in the game to win 3-2.
Up next, the Flashes travel to Indiana to take on Ball State on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 12 p.m.
