
Kent State Drops Rivalry Match on the Road

AKRON, Ohio โ The Kent State volleyball was defeated by rival Akron, 3-0 (16-25, 19-25, 19-25), for the second night in a row on Friday.
The Golden Flashes (4-12, 0-5 MAC) were led by freshman Logan Henderson, who hit .421 and posted double-digit kills for the second time this season, finishing with 10. Sophomore Mackenzie McGuire added nine kills.
Sophomore Emma Schroeder matched her career-high with three blocks to lead Kent State on defense. Senior Bryn Roberts tallied a team-high nine digs.
How it Happenedโฆ
ย ย ย Set 1 (16-25): Emma Schroeder and Burgundy Walters teamed for a block that put Kent State ahead 8-6. Akron took the lead for good with a 7-0, as the Golden Flashes were unable to score consecutive points the rest of the set.
ย ย ย Set 2 (19-25): The teams split the first 36 points in a back-and-forth battle that featured 11 ties and seven lead changes. The Zips then used strong serving to win the next six points. Kiana Mack ended the run with a kill, but Akron's defense made a block on the next point to take a 2-0 lead.
ย ย ย Set 3 (19-25): Kent State was unable to overcome gifting the Zips five points on serving errors, as the host hit better than .300 for the second set in a row.
Up Next for the Flashes
Kent State returns to the M.A.C. Center for the first four matches in October. The Flashes will host Western Michigan on Thursday, Oct. 5 and Northern Illinois on Friday, Oct. 6 to begin the homestand.
