
Kent State to Host Akron Dual on Friday

Kent State continues the indoor track and field season on Friday by hosting Akron for the annual dual meet between rival schools.
Action at the Kent State Field House will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the women's high jump, women's pole vault, women's weight throw and men's long jump. The National Anthem is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. and will be followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new Mondotrack that was installed this past summer.
Running events are slated to start at 4:00 p.m. with the women's mile and will conclude with the men's 4x400-meter relay at 6:50 p.m.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
At the season-opening Jud Logan Memorial on Saturday, Kent State had five student-athletes post top-50 marks on the national performance, according to TFRRS.
Alexandre Malanda is the highest-ranked Golden Flash and sits at No. 12 in the men's triple jump with a mark of 50'-8.75".
Sean Callahan Jr. and Kristian Kneffler are both 20th in their respective events. Callahan Jr. tied the Kent State Field House facility record with a time of 6.67 seconds in the men's 60-meter dash. His times is tied for the second fastest in program history. Kneffler cleared 17'-0.75" in the men's pole vault, just below his indoor PR.
Liam Vinskovich joined the seven-foot club and sits at No. 23 in the men's high jump with a height of 7'-0.25".
Lanee Hall was the top performer for the women, posting a triple jump personal-best mark of 40'-3.5" that puts her at No. 39 nationally.
SPECTATOR INFO
Admission is $10 for all spectators ages 5 and up. Doors will open one hour prior to the start of the meet.
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATE
The Golden Flashes will host the Doug Raymond Invitational on Jan. 26-27 for the last of three consecutive home meets to start the season.
