Castro Named MAC Wrestler of the Week

KENT- Pablo Castro IV went 3-0 during the Clarion Quad, earning the sophomore the Mid-American Conference West Division Wrestler of the Week.

Castro recorded one of two falls for the Flashes on Sunday, pinning Morgan State's Shawn Ryncarz, needing only 2:16 for the first-period fall. Castro also had a major decision victory against LIU, pitching a shutout with a 10-0 victory over Kaelen Francois.

Against Clarion, the lone MAC dual of the weekend, Castro earned a decisive 8-1 win over TJ England, the MAC's 10^th ranked wrestler at 133 pounds in the latest January rankings. With the wins, Castro improved to 12-7 on the season and earned his first conference victory.

Kent State is off next weekend and will return to the mat on Saturday, February 3^rd when they travel to Bloomsburg to take on the Huskies in a conference dual.
